Busy Wenta, Busy Recruiting

4 Mar, 2010

The current economic climate has meant many people have found themselves unemployed or feeling trapped in their position at work. As a result Wenta has seen a significant increase in demand for its services and so unlike many organisations it has been able to recruit. Wenta is a local enterprise agency that has worked with over 14,000 people across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. It has helped these people start and grow their businesses through their expert business advisors providing counselling and mentoring services.

The organisation also works in partnership with other organisations and agencies such as Prince’s Trust, Job Centre Plus and Business Link to provide a complete enterprise package for those wanting to start-up their own company or those that are currently running small or medium sized businesses.

An integral part to managing this increase in demand for Wenta’s business advice and support services has been the recruitment of Stephen Scowcroft as the new Head of Advisory Services. He will be managing the business advisory team that are tasked with supporting various aspects of enterprise and innovation throughout Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.

“Wenta’s advisory services are growing rapidly” says Stephen. “It is a challenging time for Wenta but the advisory team are looking forward to building the relationships with our existing partners and clients. I, in particular am eager to develop new ways of delivering Wenta’s activities to reach and inspire a wider group of people.”

Stephen brings over ten years of advisory experience to his role. He has a specialist background in Education and Training and has a wealth of advisory knowledge having worked on regionally, national and international strategies for organisations such as UK Trade & Investments.

Commenting on this appointment Wenta’s Chief Executive, Chris Pichon said, “It’s been a testing year for the agency. We’ve faced the challenges head on and have strengthened our team accordingly. Stephen brings considerable experience to his role and I’m confident that he will ensure our advisory team will continue to go from strength to strength and continue to be an invaluable source of advice and support to businesses across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.
