Enterprising Communities
Enterprise education is vital to our future economic success and Wenta works with the next generation of our workforce, both in schools and colleges, encouraging enterprising thinking and the confidence to make ideas happen.
The Enterprising Communities project is one example of this; based on the idea of ‘learning by doing’, schools take part in enterprise projects facilitated by Wenta. The young people work in teams to complete a project within their local community. They are tasked with planning and coordinating the work before organising an event to recognise completion of the project. Mentors from outside the school are available to give advice and guidance and Wenta are on hand to help evaluate the outcomes with both school and students.
Examples of recent projects include the refurbishment and relaunch of a community resource centre, creation of a community garden and signposting pathways in a local wood. All of these projects brought together young people, community members and leaders and mentors from business, each contributing their own individual skills and experience to share with each other for the good of the community.
The ‘Enterprising Communities’ project is led by Wenta and funded by Hertfordshire Prosperity (Investing in Communities Hertfordshire) The project is supported by the East of England Development Agency (EEDA).
