Building Better Opportunities
Hertfordshire County Council in partnership with organisations from the voluntary and community sector across Hertfordshire have been successful in securing funding from The Big Lottery Building Better Opportunities Fund (BBO). BBO is the result of the Big Lottery matching funds from the European Social Fund for projects across England that tackle poverty and promote social inclusion.
As a result of this partnership, Wenta is delivering support across Hertfordshire to help to address barriers into self-employment (STRIVE project) and to help people build financial confidence and capability (MILE project).
Wenta are offering the following support programmes:
MILE – Build your financial confidence
Through a highly interactive team based session, participants get the opportunity to develop the life of a character and explore their financial situation. Teams will explore the character’s finance options for saving, borrowing and budgeting; making key financial decisions and aspirations for the future.
STRIVE – Be your own boss
- Through a fun and interactive small group taster session, participants will get the opportunity to explore self-employment and business ideas. They will also be given a work book to support the activities, such as researching the viability of an idea.
- Following the taster session, participants who want to pursue self-employment further can access support tailored to their needs – through one-to-one advisory sessions or attending additional Wenta workshops on subjects such as marketing, finance and business planning.
‘Be Your Own Boss – an introduction to self-employment’ engagement activity on 27th April 1-5pm at the Southhill Centre (STRIVE hub) in Hemel Hempstead. To book a participant onto the session please email: firstname.lastname@example.org
